Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

SCAN YER VAN LTD is committed to making the Scan Yer Van website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Conformance status

Scan Yer Van is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Our own pages meet the standard; the exceptions are the third-party components and the scan map listed under Known limitations below. Accessibility stays an ongoing priority as we add features.

What we have done

• Semantic HTML throughout — headings, landmarks, lists, and form labels used correctly.
• All decorative icons are marked aria-hidden="true" so screen readers skip them.
• We check colour contrast between text and its background against WCAG AA ratio requirements, including small helper text and the dashboard navigation.
• Every public page and the demo dashboard are checked with automated WCAG 2.2 AA tests (axe-core), and each failure is fixed.
• Wide tables that scroll sideways can be reached and scrolled with the keyboard.
• All interactive elements (buttons, links, form inputs) are keyboard navigable and have visible focus indicators.
• Form inputs have associated <label> elements and validation error messages linked via aria-describedby.
• Images include meaningful alt text; purely decorative images have empty alt attributes.
• The site works without JavaScript for core content pages.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA:

• Third-party components — the Stripe payment fields at checkout and the Cloudflare Turnstile bot check on our forms are provided by those companies. We cannot fully control or test their accessibility.
• Scan hot-spot map — the map is visual and cannot be fully used with a keyboard or screen reader. The same page lists the areas where scans happened, with the number of scans in each, as text.

Technical information

Scan Yer Van relies on the following technologies for conformance: HTML, CSS (Tailwind CSS), JavaScript (Alpine.js, HTMX). The site has been tested manually using keyboard navigation, checked with automated axe-core tests and reviewed against WCAG 2.2 success criteria.

This statement was last reviewed in October 2026, based on our own assessment (a self-assessment) against WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
